After a long run of Shakespeare plays at Loyola College (MD,) Mike broke away and became very active in Baltimore’s local independent theater scene. He worked with the Spotlighters and the Mobtown Players And then performed more classical plays like The Weir at the Vagabond and Iceman Cometh at the Fells Point Cornier.

For Gunpowder Repertory Theatre he has become a foundation of their performances.

For his directorial debut, Lance pulled his fellow Loyola Blakefield Alum off the cobblestones of Fells Point and back into the County. He cast Mike as Gaston the comic relief role in Picasso At Lapin Agile.

Then the fallowing year Bernd and Mike teamed up to bring Glengarry Glen Ross to the stage. Bernd directed, while Mike gave a stellar performance as Roma.
